Another batch of soap for February 02/25/2010

Lemongrass Citrus Scrub is our all-time best seller! I seem to always sell out, right when everyone runs out of soap. So, I'm making a point to make more lemongrass citrus scrub! I have made a goal to create 1,000 lbs of soap in 2010.  That is about 7 batches of soap a month.  I only have a few days left in February to meet my goal! I was all set to make soap tonight, but I ran out of my secret weapon, double stick tape!

We've been busy around here lately.  Making soap, taking care of family, working, watching the snow, brainstorming, watching more snow... I managed to make some soap yesterday.  I made this particular kind last year for my furry friends, to help repel fleas.  Turns out it was more popular with the humans than the dogs! I called it "Clean."  It had essential oils of peppermint, clary sage, tea tree, spearmint, and  ecualyptus.  I love this scent, it has a minty top note, followed by a more earthy, grounding clary sage.  It is one of my favorites, but I have alot of favorites!

Order up! This delight of a soap will be ready around March 2.  It contains bentonite clay, which provides slip for a razor or a great facial soap for oily skin. One of the best advantages of making soap is that we get to use it! I l love this bar of soap and our own bar is getting a bit on the small side.  I hope it lasts another 4 weeks...
The next soap to be made will be lavender vanilla.  Another one of my favorites.

I'm waiting patiently for my favorite man in brown to arrive- that's right the UPS man! I know that he barely tolerates deliveries to our home, our drive is narrow and up a mountain with no turn-around.  I really feel for him. Hoping to butter him up every so often, I offer a bar of soap or some cookies.  (Although, there never seems to be any extra cookies here). He's bringing me soap supplies today! Hooray! I would love to buy my soap supplies locally. Unfortunately, there in not a place where I can buy large quantities of oils for soap in town.  So, I must do my best in order to make soap.  I do grow my own herbs when possible or buy them local. I try my best to support local businesses and sell my products in local stores.  It's all about community and the economy of small businesses.  They value and understand cottage industries, such as Larkmartin Soaps.  Support your local businesses today!
